The Nigerian U-23 side kick started their quest for participation in next years Olympics as they held on for a win against West African neighbors, Mali.
Nigeria opened scoring in the 16th minute through Oluwafemi Ajayi while Usman doubled the lead in the 34th minute. Oluwafemi made it three before the end of the first half to ensure that the Nigerian U-23 side were off to a flying start.
However things turned around in the second half when Niane A. scored from the spot and just about 11 minutes later Sissoko got a second goal for the Malians. The game ended with the Malians failing to find the much needed equalizer and the Nigerian side heading back to their hotel room with three points in the bag.
The victory ensures that Nigeria are now leading group B with 3 points followed by Egypt and Algeria who drew their game.
Nigeria will play Egypt in their next game on the 2nd of December; 7pm kick off time.
