New date for Kogi state elections

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC has fixed a new date for Kogi state elections. This is following an inconclusive results as declared by the body in the last polls. The supplementary elections has been put in place to clearly provide a winner and the next governor of the state.In the last elections, Late Prince Audu of the APC garnered a total of 240,827 votes while  Wada of the PDP got 199, 514 votes.

The electoral commissioner, Prof. Emmanuel Kucha of Federal University of Agriculture, Makurdi declared the results of the gubernatorial polls inconclusive because the number of cancelled votes was more than the difference between the APC and the PDP.

The new date for the elections has been slated for December 5.

APC who has a deceased candidate in the polls will have to provide a new candidate to replace the late Prince Abubakar Audu who died a day after the elections.
