BVN DEADLINE: 26 Million Bank accounts to be frozen by CBN

The deadline for Bank Verification Number registration, BVN is on the 31st of October 2015 and the Central Bank has confirmed that about 26 million bank accounts are yet to be registered. These bank accounts will be frozen and the affected customers will no longer have access to the account.

Reacting on the issue, managing director of Ecobank, Jibril Aku confirmed that customers will no longer have access to their bank account until they comply.

The Central Bank of Nigeria launched BVN in February 2014 to protect bank accounts from unauthorized access, address issues of identity theft, reduce queue in Banking Halls etc.
